About
Requirements for the PKGB Kids Advanced Class
Between 8 - 12yo
Attended at least 1 PKGB kids class
Candidates must be able to complete 90% of the exercises.
How it works:
Earn an invite from one of your regular coaches. We’re always on the lookout for kids that work extra hard and show the “parkour spirit”!
Once you've been invited, the next step is to show up and join us! Generally the Kids Advanced class is held on Monday evenings at Boston Bouldering Project from 6:30 - 7:30pm.
We recommend that participants in the Kids Advanced class join us for 2 training sessions per week if possible.
Usually one of these sessions will be the Advanced Kids class, and the other one is your choice!
The easiest and most cost-effective way to accomplish this is with our Kids Flex Explorer monthly membership!
When we have seasonal events and workshops we’ll send you a special invite! Even when there is a teen/adult age limit we often invite the Monkey Squad because we know you can handle it!
The rough requirements for the Kids Advanced Class are divided into three parts as follows. PKGB coaches will often have kids try out all or part of the requirements to gauge their readiness levels:
Part I - Mindset
Students must be able to demonstrate that they are able to safely and responsibly participate in classes. Invitations to the Advanced Class are earned, not guaranteed. Participants are able to safely bail and disperse impact in a variety of settings.

1) Vaults: Step, Lazy, Turn, Gate
2) Balance along 7’ rail (2 of 3 attempts)
3) Cat leap + climb-up on head height object
4) Drop jump to landing from chest height
5) Coach Choice - 3 different jumps/challenges, stuck 3 times each, demonstrating control & precision
Part 3 - Physical Readiness

1) 10 x pushups
2) 20 x squats
