Coach-In-Training Development Program

This program is designed to help youth to acquire the professional skills and coaching experience needed for working within the parkour industry, while also building valuable professional skills for future employment and education opportunities. Our mission is to help foster and develop the next generation of movers and influencers by creating safe, positive, and impactful summer learning opportunities for a variety motivated participants from all backgrounds.

As the program continues to grow and expand, participants will be able to continue growing and learning with the PKGB, with the eventual goal of fun, flexible, and rewarding employment opportunities.

2024 CIT PROGRAM OVERVIEW


COACH-IN-TRAINING (Ages 12 - 16)

Pre-Requirements: Prior experience in parkour is strongly recommended but not required. CIT’s from prior years of the program that have not yet completed the ADAPT Level 1 Certification are encouraged to participate in the program for additional work experience and training.

Training & Responsibilities:

  • Group Management

  • Basic Spotting & Risk assessments

  • Basic Technical Instruction

  • Planning and leading micro-sessions

  • Mealtime & Snack break Supervision

Goals:

  • Build professional skills

  • Identify areas for improvement

  • Gain work experience

  • Improve leadership & mentoring skills

  • Prepare for ADAPT Level 1 Course

Requirements:

  • CIT’s will be expected to help at a minimum of 3 “full cycles” of a class over the course of the summer season. CIT’s can help at multiple classes within the same week, and up to 2 CIT’s can be placed with the same class.

  • A “full cycle” is either:

    • A) A week-long program that meets multiple times within a single week (ex: BBP Adventure Week, Summer of Yes week).

    • B) A weekly class that has at least 5 classes over the course of the summer season.

Locations:

  • The 2024 CIT Training Week (6/26 - 6/28 WED - FRI, 10am ~ 4pm) will meet at the Somernova Dojo in Somerville, and will use a few other outdoor spots within walking distance.

  • CIT helping opportunities will be available in: Somerville, Cambridge, Arlington, Belmont, Medford, and Boston.

  • The ADAPT Level 1 Parkour Instructor Course will be taking place July 11 - 13 (Thu - Sat, 9am - 5pm each day) at the Somernova Dojo in Somerville.

Additional Benefits:

  • Free access to PKGB Teen & Adult classes for the Summer Season.

  • Opportunities for additional coaching experience with PKGB during school year with select programs.

  • Opportunity to bring parkour to a CIT’s school or youth organization to help teach parkour to peers.

  • Discounted access to ADAPT Level 1 Parkour Instructor Course (July 11 - 13). Registration is only available for participants that will be at least 15yo by the start of the course.

Pricing:

  1. CIT Training Week (Required for ALL CIT’s):

    • $350 (Need-based scholarships available)

    • ALL CIT’s must attend the training, regardless of whether they’ve attended it in previous years.

  2. ADAPT Level 1 Certification Course (Optional):

    • Must be at least age 15 to attend.

    • Normally $500, discounted to $250 for PKGB CIT’s (additional scholarships available).

  3. Assisting Sessions

    • Free!

    • Must complete a minimum of 3 “full cycles”
