OVERVIEW

Competitions are a relatively new endeavor for us and we found our 2025 inaugural season to be a rewarding experience for both athletes and coaches.  While we’re excited that there is a competition format that has been created by the parkour community itself (and not outside forces) we continue to place our primary emphasis on the values and personal growth aspect of parkour training and hope that parents will continue to do this as well.

COMPETITION FORMATS

For those that are not familiar with the competition format used by the United States Parkour Association (USPK, the national governing body for parkour in the US), here is the rough breakdown:

Speed - This is essentially an obstacle course that requires the athlete to pass between multiple sets of flags to navigate a course in a way they find most efficient.

Skill - This competition is made up of rounds of challenges that highlight certain skills or techniques that are essential to a well-rounded parkour athlete.  Generally, there are three slightly different rounds, with the top performers moving on to subsequent rounds.

Style - This is the most subjective area of competition and features multiple rounds where athletes are expected to create “lines” and “combinations” of movement that demonstrate their abilities while also interacting with the given environment.

TRAINING SESSIONS

As part of the Youth Team, participants will be eligible (and strongly encouraged) to attend the monthly training sessions that we’ll be hosting that will be specifically aimed at preparation for the competitions (as well as general parkour training and growth).

Monthly Training sessions will run on one Saturday afternoon and one Sunday afternoon each month.  Youth Comp Team members are welcome to attend one or both sessions.

In addition to this training, we strongly encourage all Youth Comp Team members to attend at least one other parkour class per week- either through one of our partner programs, an afterschool program, or our weekly classes.
