On April 1st four brave souls arrived at Fan Pier Park to train despite an impending ice storm. They braved the elements for several hours until they were overcome by the snow and ice and had to relent. We will return to the Seaport District to explore the elements that were hidden by the snow and ice.
The Exploration Series focuses on developing participants' "Parkour Vision"- the ability to perceive and move through an environment using ALL elements of the landscape- not just the ones that are approved by modern society. Each session will take place in a different man-made and/or natural environment so that participants can learn to move through and be comfortable on ANY terrain. Participants will move through a number of spots over the course of each 3-hour session with a special focus based on the theme of the session. Additional focus will be dedicated to exploring the creative and playful side of parkour training and finding unique and creative ways to use everyday terrain or objects. Along the way challenges will be presented in which participants may have to work together as a team or face obstacles individually and adapt their movement to continue down the path.
Each session of the Exploration Series will be held in a new location to maximize the diversity of environments encountered. For this event, participants will end at the same location that they started.
This event will meet at the corner of Fan Pier Park by Harborwalk and Courthouse Way.
Parking is nearby, but participants are encouraged tobike or take public transit to the meeting location. Participants will finish the event at the original meeting point.
Participants should expect to run between 3-5 miles over the course of the session and will be responsible for carrying their own gear and water throughout the session. Ages 14+*.
WHAT TO BRING
Participants should prepare to be extremely mobile and should limit the number of items that they bring along (small bag, water, essentials, small snack, etc) as each participant will be responsible for carrying their own gear. We will be outside for the entire duration of the event, so please dress in appropriate layers.
